Pacquiao vs. Cotto on the way
Boxing fans, watch out for the next battle of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao on the ring after the year ends. Talks are underway for the much-anticipated fight between Pacquiao and WBO welterweight champion Miguel Ángel Cotto of Puerto Rico, which is tentatively scheduled on November 14 at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. Even before the Ricky Hatton fight, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum stated his desire for Pacquiao to fight Cotto. Pacquiao then gave Arum the go signal to arrange the fight after Cotto won a hard-fought decision against Joshua Clottey at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Meanwhile, current WBA welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley tried to lure Pacquiao to fight him, even accusing Arum of getting in the way. However, he was unsuccessful in doing so.
Among the details being discussed for the Pacquiao-Cotto fight to materialize are the weight (both camps agreed to the 145-pound catchweight) and the purse (Cotto isn’t worried about getting the smaller portion, while Pacquiao wants the 65-35 purse split)
