Krista Ranillo is back in the film industry with a daring role where her father filipino actor Matt Ranillo III and family feel bad about it for almost two weeks. “When Paupahan was offered, I got scared a bit because it was daring. But I saw that it was an acting piece, maganda ang script and impressive ang all-star cast. Kumbaga, being daring was part of the role. It was a good comeback project. Depende naman sa script and character yung pagiging daring,”
“Si Daddy [Mat], hindi niya nabasa yung script. Hindi niya pa rin napapanood ang movie, but I’m confident naman na magugustuhan niya ito. Pero siguro sa una mabibigla siya kasi hindi siya sanay na ganoon yung role ko and yung dialogues. But I know he will be supportive pa rin,” revealed by Matt Ranillo’s daughter.
“Yes, we are not talking right now. It’s better to be still for the moment. So much is happening…I just wanted to be informed on any projects she’s undertaking because my desire for her is to prosper and for her success, not to harm her. For her to have a bright and hopeful future as she’s starting showbiz.” Matt Ranillo III said.

Paupahan (international title: Crossroads)—directed by Joven Tan, with cinematography by top lensman Romy Vitug—is scheduled to have its theatrical run starting July 2 and produced by Award-winning actor (Best Supporting Actor during the 2007 Star Awards and the FAMAS Awards for his role as an aging macho dancer in Twilight Dancers) and businessman Allen Dizon. The former bold star produced this full-length film under his own company called ATD Entertainment Productions. This movie features a powerhouse cast composed of Ms. Gloria Romero, Jay Manalo, Snooky Serna, Angelu de Leon, German Moreno, Krista Ranillo, Joseph Bitangcol, Kirby de Jesus and Allen himself with special participation of Richard Quan, Dexter Doria, Michelle Estevez, Lou Veloso, Benjie Felipe, Lito “Shalala” Reyes.
Paupahan is graded “B” by the Cinema Evaluation Board. The Indie film received R-13 classification from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) without cuts. Written by Dennis Evangelista, Paupahan is set in a slum area located next to a cemetery.
Premiere nights are scheduled at SM Megamall on June 22 (Sunday) and SM Pampanga on June 30 (Monday).
