If I we’re given the chance to sing the US national anthem, I won’t sing it… I’m a Filipino, that’s a dishonor to my race. We should not grab all opportunities and we should always consider who will benefit in our decisions…and who will get hurt. What will other countries think of us about how we cherish our being a Filipino, even in seemingly “small things”…

Why is it a dishonor to your race? Let’s analyze this. The Americans let her sing their national anthem even though she wasn’t American. The Americans entrusted their national anthem to a foreigner. Now that is GREAT honor to your race.
Give the 16 year old a break. Benefits? Get hurt? What a selfish prick. She was a performer, performing. If you’re so into patriotism then don’t ever buy or use a product from a foreign country. That goes with computers and the internet.
I’ll give you a scenario of dishonor. If Charice picked to sing the American national anthem over the Philippine national anthem, that is dishonor. But this isn’t the case.
